Grotto Santa Maria
At the south of Bintan, lies Grotto Santa Maria. Here, a beautiful portrayal of the Stations of the Cross tells the story which has captured the hearts of millions around the world.
It has been said that this unique religious site was built a long time ago by a Dutch priest, with newer parts of the site added by sea gypsies from Vietnam, and Catholics from East Timor. During weekends, it is filled with locals as they come here to pray.
