Bintan Tanjung Uban Explorer
Did you know? “Kelongs, offshore wooden platforms constructed at sea for fishing purposes, are traditionally built without the use of nails. Instead, rattan strips are used to bind the tree trunks and wooden planks together.”
Located in the north-west coast of Bintan island, hours from Bintan Resorts, Tanjung Uban is the second largest town after Tanjung Pinang. Renowned for its quaint and rustic atmosphere, Tanjung Uban offers a window for visitors to sample a truly authentic Indonesian experience. The tour begins with a visit to a local farm that grows over 20 types of tropical fruits and vegetables. Sample the delicious seasonal fruits which are naturally cultivated. Drive through the town centre of Tanjung Uban, and see the fast-growing cottage industry businesses like motorcycle repairs, kubah (mosque dome) factories and brick-making factories. The scenic drive brings you through the coastal fishing village, where you will see ‘Bugis’ homes built on stilts, and kelongs staking their positions at sea. Amid swaying coconut trees in the warm tropical breeze, enjoy a refreshing coconut at the local beach.
