Did you know that turtles are important for our environment? They help keep seagrass beds healthy, balance animal populations, spread seeds, and clean up the environment. Turtles also create homes for other animals and indicate how healthy the environment is. Learn more about how turtles support our natural world. Plus, find out about Bintan Resorts’ program that supports turtle conservation and helps protect these amazing creatures.
Twice a year, Green and Hawksbill Turtles come ashore to the beaches of Bintan Island to lay their eggs. Several resorts on the island, such as Nirwana Gardens, Banyan Tree Bintan, and Club Med Bintan Island, are involved in a turtle conservation program. Within three days of the first egg hatching, the baby turtles are released into the ocean. This program helps ensure more turtles survive and continue their important roles in the ecosystem.
In addition to the scheduled events at Nirwana Gardens and the regular turtle releases at Bintan Resorts, the forthcoming schedule for the turtle hatchery program is set to take place at Nirwana Gardens from June 29th to July 4th, 2024. Guests staying at the hotel are invited to participate in this meaningful initiative. At Bintan Resorts, regular turtle releases are organized by the resort, offering guests the opportunity to witness hatchlings being returned to the vast ocean, though availability may vary depending on the season.
